BOOK REVIEWS!
BFGS (AKA BoyFistGirlSuck)

Synthesis is the act, and sometimes the art, of taking two separate
things
or ideas, and melding them together to create a distinct third.
Literary
synthesis is widespread in much of the writing being done these days,
both
online and in traditional publishing. The phrase of the day is
crossing
genres. Paranormal mystery, romantic suspense, humorous fantasy.
Erotic horror.
In BFGS, Hertzan Chimera and Alex Severin have synthesized a
delightfully
gruesome series of brutally amorous stories. This collection is not for
the faint of heart or mind, but if the reader has the stomach and the
balls to delve therein, the rewards are significant. Each of these
stories
is a carefully crafted fusion of love and death, fornication and
mutilation, sex and horror.
And they are stories, not merely gynecological examinations wrapped in
elements of fear and loathing or Penthouse letters filtered through
psychopathia. They actually have plots, often brilliantly conceived.
Nor
are the sexual and the horrific gratuitously grafted into the
storylines.
Rather, they are intrinsic to the whole that is, in each case, so much
more than the sum of its parts.
Chimera and Severin deftly play the reader, simultaneously tugging at
both
the viscera and the gonads, attracting and repelling with each tale,
involving the readers lizard hindbrain intimately with characters far
more fully developed that the Sims who so often inhabit short stories
these days.
In the process, Chimera and Severins individual talents merge into
seamless poetic prose that is reminiscent of the Marquis De Sade at his
most extreme channeled through Jack Kerouac at his most obliquely
direct,
with one notable (and deliberate) exception. These are truly dangerous
visions, and if Ellison ever does compile the third volume of the
trilogy
of anthologies he began over thirty years ago, he could do much worse
than
to seek out these authors for inclusion.
The exception leads off the book, appropriately. KODA is a deranged
back
and forth exchange between Chimera and Severin, an explicitly
terrifying
experiment in ranking, a horrifically erotic game of dozens that is the
place where the fusion begins. From that point on, the synthesis is
complete, and all thats left to do is enjoy the ride.
Or perhaps I should say the meal. BFGS is arranged like a menu, light
hors
doeuvres before, meaty main courses followed by fruity desserts of
appalling, and appealing, texture and taste.
Inherent in the concept of erotic horror is the compelling need of the
characters for sexual experiences beyond and apart from those lusts
inhabitants of any sane world would admit to having. It is this facet
of
the genre in which Chimera and Severin shine best, with an admittedly
dark
light. Their characters seek and find things in the night that fulfill
and
destroy them. They embrace both with equal fervor, to the delight of
any
reader brave enough to go where the citizens of these dark worlds
venture.
The titles alone are compelling enough Coat of Many Cunts,
Star-Crossed Motherfuckers, The Compelling Iridescence of Her
Flesh,
Black is the New Black, Boyfistgirlsuck (from which the collection
takes its title). The stories are just as compelling, and repelling,
locking onto the mind and heart and colon like a tractor beam from
Hell.
This is not an easy book to read all at one sitting, not because it is
poorly done, but because it is so well written. BFGS has already
engendered a good deal of notoriety, because of the skill and passion
poured into these grotesquely sensual tales. Tiny minds that cannot
wrap
themselves around the lethal loving within will flee from it, but for
the
reader willing to expand his or her horizons beyond the norm, it will
challenge and delight. BFGS reminds one of something Oscar Wilde once
said, to the effect that the only obscene books are those that are
badly
written. By that standard, BFGS is not at all obscene. It is erotic,
and
horrifying, but if the reader is open to experiences outside of his or
her
comfort zone, BFGS will be a treasured reading experience.

until she is in scarlet bliss! Yes, Severin is a Vampire novelist that
others dare not encounter. She has no one else that can rival against her,
not even novelist, Anne Rice.
The labors of Severin's succulent, insatiable thirst for blood, and its
beauty, in its most raw and erotic form, leaves her fans with the tangy
taste oozing down their throats, long after the bloodletting is
through. She slowly, presses her lush lips next to the reader's throat,

Shell.
Husk.
Vegetable.
They call me all of these things, as if, somehow, I am not here any
more, as if I, James, were somewhere else, out of earshot.
They all do it - my so-called friends, family and the army of
do-gooders that have sprang up around me like weeds and are just as welcome.
But I am still alive inside this shell. I still inhabit this husk
they speak of.
My mind is pin-sharp - sharper than it ever was. My remaining senses
are keener. Sounds are crystal-clear and amplified. My vision is
20/20. My sense of smell is like a bloodhound.
And I can still feel. I feel each blow from their pity-dripping words
like a fist in my face. I can feel every moist-eyed stare and
sorrowful look, every resigned sigh. I wish I could rise from this chair and
slap all those looks off their faces.
They seem to think I am deaf and blind, treat me as though I am
retarded. That reminds me of a stupid thing we used to do to each other as
kids - hey, say this fast...

We would roll about on the ground in fits of laughter making mongoloid
noises at each other, bending our hands at the wrist and clamping them
to out chests, sticking out tongues into the lower left of our lips.
But the only thing that has changed about me is that I am unable to
move, unable to communicate. I am still the same James inside here,
still the same man they all claim to love and respect so damn much.
They are oblivious to the rage in my eyes. They can not see the anger
that oozes out of my every pore. I hate each and every one of them for
their blindness. If they would only look me in the eye, they would
see.

Fuck you!
I curse and rant at them from the confines of my skull, venom dripping
from the sharp point of my tongue but the only sounds I can make are
ridiculous guttural grunts. I remain silent now an noise I make only
reinforces their assumption that I am brain dead and magnifies the horror
and the pity I can see reflected in their irises.
But there are fleeting moments when I am left alone and I cherish
them. They are few and far between but I am as happy as I can ever be when
I am here by myself.
Suzie always adored me and she's a permanent fixture in my apartment
now. I know she loves this, this situation. She adores the fact that
she is my keeper now, that she has to wash me and dress me and change my
catheter and my colostomy bag. She gets off on the power that she has
over me now. She enjoys it. She is glad that this happened to me.
She enjoys playing wife and mother and nursemaid. This suits her just
fine. And I hate her for it. And I hate her for the things she does to
me behind closed doors when there is no audience to spectate her
martyrdom...
